Big Changes and Even Bigger Successes

POST BY: Pat Reilly ON June 23rd, 2017

The last few months have brought exciting changes to PR & Company. We’re so happy to welcome Managing Director Abbe Solomon Vacek, a leader with more than 25 years of diverse senior communications experience spanning enterprise software, nonprofits, and travel.

We’re also thrilled to be adding Jocelyn Polanco to the team. With experience serving as a field rep for Assemblymember Tom Ammiano and as a campaign leader at the Partnership for Children & Youth, Jocelyn brings a passion for leveraging communications to advocate for kids – in English and in Espanol!

After 20 years in San Francisco, PR & Company has migrated across the Bay to Berkeley. Check out the view from the porch above, our new roost is in a can’t beat location, behind Chez Panisse and above a cupcake bakery. Visit for the communications and stay for the food!

As enthusiastic as we are about our beautiful new home and exceptional new team members, PR & Company is even more excited for the incredible success of our clients the Partnership for Children and Youth (PCY) and Artesia High School.

With operational costs rising, and a federal budget that entirely eliminates funding for after school, the Partnership for Children and Youth went to work campaigning to sustain quality after school for California’s most vulnerable students. Their Save After School campaign achieved incredible results, securing $50 million in the budget, the first funding increase for after school in three years. Way to go PCY!

At Artesia, a visionary principal and a staff of committed and talented administrators and teachers have transformed their high school. Once riddled with violence and gangs, Artesia now boasts one of the best graduation rates in the state with over 90 percent of all graduating seniors heading to college in the fall. Artesia’s amazing work finally got some of the recognition they deserve with coverage of their annual “I’m Going to College Dinner” on Telemundo.

Whether we’re in the heart of San Francisco or the hills of Berkeley, we’re honored to be able to work with such inspiring and impactful changemakers who are fighting every day for opportunities for California’s kids.
