The California PTA, the state’s largest
nonpartisan volunteer organization, is dedicated to improving education
for all children. Together with CEPS (Community for Excellent Public
Schools), the California PTA launched “Caravan for Kids,”
an unprecedented mobilization of parents calling on the governor and
state legislature to restore funding to California’s ailing
public school system. In order to have a chance at affecting the political
environment, this grassroots campaign needed to achieve widespread,
positive media coverage that was “on message.” With no
experience organizing a statewide campaign, the organization’s
part-time volunteers had to accomplish this feat in just two months. |
